MEMBERSHIP
- Annual club membership is by calendar year.
- Upon applying for a regular or student annual membership, each member shall complete a membership information form and a Par-Q form.
- All members must become individual members of Athletics Ontario (AO). AO fees are paid annually.
- The Board reserves the right to refuse membership.
- Annual members are considered “regular” or “student” members for the purposes of voting at Annual or Special General Meetings.
- Each regular or student member shall have access to all club programming as described in Policy 3: Programming Levels. Non-members, who must pre-register for a trial membership with Athletics Ontario, have access to all programming offered in each session they attend.
- All members are expected to have an official club shirt. New members are expected to purchase this shirt, (a piece of technical club apparel of their choice) with their first full-year club membership according to Policy 8: Club Apparel.
FEES
- Annual, pro-rated, and non-member per session fees shall be determined by the Board and published with the annual notice of the Annual General Meeting. Unless changed by the membership at the Annual General Meeting, fees shall remain the same for the entire calendar year for which they are set.
- Annual fees are payable in December for the upcoming membership period.
- A pro-rated membership fee is available for those new members who join at times other than in December.
- Payment for annual membership may be made in installments on approval of a payment plan recommended to the Board by the Registrar.
BENEFITS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Members in good standing receive the benefits accorded to the membership which includes: coaching (both general and personal, when requested); club workouts and specialized track training sessions; regular communications including training advice (i.e., The Bulletin, Facebook Members Page, and others as appropriate); special educational sessions (e.g., Go Faster); club apparel at cost; social activities; and opportunities to contribute to club decision making.
Likewise, members are expected to adhere to the spirit and intent of the club’s mission, vision, values. They are also expected to know and respect the Constitution, By-laws and policies of the club, with the understanding that there are processes to propose or initiate change.
EXCEPTIONS
If a member, who for reasons of health or injury, does not renew their membership but requests to maintain their connection to the club by continuing to receive the weekly Bulletin, the Board, at their discretion and annual review, may grant that request on a case by case basis based on the following criteria:
– must have stated an intent to re-join the club once the health situation is resolved.
– must have previously been an active member in good standing (for a period of at least two years).
– is a valuable resource and/or provides a valuable service to the club and commits to volunteering on a regular basis.
